A: Alright. If you will all gather around, I will give you a bit of history on this wonderful home. Originally built in 1807, this house was home to one of the most influential writers of his time. With over 4000 square feet and 12 rooms, it was also one of the largest in the city. The home was handcrafted and, as you can see, great pains were taken in every detail from the stained glass windows in the entry to the decorative woodwork throughout the house. The home remained in the family until 1916 when a fire damaged much of the east wing. After that, the home was sold and converted to a lodge, which it remained until 1987 when a private trust purchased the property to preserve it as a museum honoring the late author.
