Evelyn Jacobs Ortner most recently served as Executive Director of the Unity Group, Inc., in Millburn, NJ- an advocacy organization for battered women and their dependent children, which she founded in 1989. Mrs. Ortner has been widely-recognized for her extraordinary contributions to the field of domestic violence, and has received numerous awards including: the Certificate of Appreciation from the U.S. Department of Justice (1998); a Commending Resolution from the New Jersey Senate and General Assembly (1999); the Annual Volunteer Award from the Governor of New Jersey (1999); and the Crystal Stair Award from the Human Orgs. Foundation (2004).

She will give a lecture on Thursday, December, 8 2005 from 2 to 3:30 P.M. The lecture will be held in the Golkin Office on 3417 Fairmount Street. An informal reception will be held immediately after.
