Finding and renting an apartment (II)

After you find a suitable accomodation for you, (적당한 숙소를 고른 후)

Get detailed information about the place that you are interested in (집에 관한 자세한 정보를 얻는다.)

Things to consider before renting (세를 들기 전에 고려해야 할 사항)

Location of the apartment (숙소의 위치)

Are pets allowed in the unit? (애완동물이 허락되는가?)

How far is ~ from ~? (~에서 얼마나 되는가?)

Is ~ near from ~ ? (~에서 얼마나 가까운가?)

Transportation (교통편)

Access to post office, supermarket, etc (우체국, 슈퍼마켓등)

How much is the rent? (집세는 얼마인가?)

Does it include utilities? (이는 각종 요금을 포함하는가?)

*utility; who pays for what (security deposit (bond), key deposit, rent, various fees, etc); 어떤 요금을 누가 내는가는 정확히 하지 않으면 추후에 문제가 생길 수 있는 사항이므로 꼼꼼히 체크한다.

Do you have ~ ? (설비등을 묻는 표현; ~는 있나요)

Is (Are) there ~ ?

kitchen; dishwasher, garbage disposal, (식기세척기, 쓰레기 처리등)

Are there smoke detectors? (화재 경보기)

Are there enough electrical outlets? (전원의 갯수)

Find them out on-site (직접 방문한다.)

Room size and general condition of each room (방 크기와 상태확인)

Task

1. What kinds of utilities does the tenant have to pay?

2. You are about to rent an apartment. Ask your landlord when you can move in.

P.T.: Ah, now, what do you require as a security deposit?

Manager: We ask first and last month’s rent, plus a $400 damage deposit. It’s a one-year lease. After that, we go month to month.

P.T.: And the rent is $1100 per month? Does that include utilities?

Manager: We pay water and garbage. The tenant pays gas and electric.

P.T.: Great. When will it be available?

Manger: It is available immediately.

1. What do you require as a security deposit?

security deposit: 보증금. 계약에 따라 액수는 다르지만 보통 집을 임대하면 보증금을 선금으로 지불하고 후에 계약이 끝날 때 되돌려 받을 수 있다.

2. lease: 임대차 계약 (집주인과 세입자 사이의 계약으로 세입자는 게약기간 중의 집세에 대한 절대적인 책임이 있다). 보통 1년 정도의 lease 가 끝나면 그 이후에는 계약을 한달 기준으로 바꿀 수 있는 조건으로 변환된다.

4. How much is the rent? (집세는 얼마입니까?) Does it include utilities? (각종 요금을 포함하나요?)

5. When will it be available? (언제부터 들어갈 수 있습니까?); 모든 조건이 맞아도 집에 들어가는 날짜가 맞지 않아 본의 아니게 오랜기간을 기다려야 하는 경우가 생길 수도 있으므로 주의한다.)
