Getting information about banking services

여러분이 유학 혹은 이민으로 해외에 가서 은행계좌를 열려고 합니다. 어떤 질문들이 오 갈수 있을까요? 생각해 봅시다.

1) 계좌를 열고 싶습니다. 어디서 물어보면 될까요?
2) 어떤 계좌가 있습니까? 저는 ~을 해야 합니다.
3) ~ 계좌로 하겠습니다.
4) ~에 대해 설명해 주시겠습니까?

주의해야 할 사항;
fees and charges; 추가로 부과되는 요금. monthly service charge
interest rate; 이자율
minimum balance; 최소 잔액. 예금에 따라 최소 잔액이 어느 한도
이상이 되지 않으면 service charge를 지불해야 하는 경우가 있음.
bank statement; 예금 거래실적이 기록. 간혹 추가로 요청하는 경
우 추가비용을 지불 해야 하는 경우가 있음.

Task

1. If you don’t have over $1000 in the “Premium Checking” account, what do you have to do?
2. You are at the bank to open a new account, but you don’t know much about banking products. How would you start a conversation to get some help?

Customer; Excuse me. Where could I get information about opening a new account?

Bank Officer; I can help you with that. Have a seat. What kind of account were you thinking of opening?

Customer; I’m not sure. What kinds of accounts do you have?

Bank Officer; Well, our two general types are “savings” and “checking”

Customer; Oh. I’m not ready for a savings account. I just need to keep my money safe and write checks from it. But I’d like to get interest on it if I can.

Bank Officer: Then you would want our “Premium Checking” account. It yields a low rate of interest but it does require a minimum daily balance of $1500. This will also allow you to avoid the ten-dollar monthly service charge.

3) What kinds of accounts do you have?; 어떤 계좌가 있나요?

Do you have any special plan (product) for students (the elderly)? (학생(노인)을 위한 특별한 상품이 있습니까?)

4) I need to ~ ; when you explain your needs. ~이 필요합니다.

I’d like to get high interest on it. (저는 높은 이자를 받고 싶습니다.)
