Getting to the theatre

(극장 도착)

대중교통 이용 시는 극장까지의 시간을 미리 계산하여 공연에 늦지 않도록 하며 차를 가지고 갈 시에는 주차장소에 대해 미리 알아보아야 한다. 주차시설의 가격을 물어보는 것도 중요하다.

Task

1) How much does he have to pay for parking on Sunday?

2) Ask the employee of A.C.T. Theater about the direction to the theater.

Employee: A.C.T.

Customer: Hi. I was wondering if you could give me directions to the theatre. Do I get off at Central Avenue?

Employee: Right. Get off at Central and stay in the right lane. Make a right at the signal and go three blocks to Main. We're halfway down the block on the left.

Customer: Thanks. Is there parking on the street or … what about parking lots?

Employee: Street parking is metered, so that won’t do you any good. There’s a one-hour limit.

Customer: How much is it?

Employee: $5.00 per hour, or $10.00 for the evening after 6 p.m. By the way, it’s not a Sunday matinee, is it?

Customer: It is.

Employee: You are lucky. Meters don’t operate on Sunday.

Customer: Fantastic!

1. I was wondering if you could give me directions to ~; 길을 묻는 표현. ~ 로 가는 길을 알려 주시겠습니까? Could you tell me where ~ ?

2. Directions:

Example
get off at ~ Rd (St): ~ 로 빠져나오다. (운전 시)

make a right (left); 오른쪽(왼쪽)으로 돌다.

get in the right (left) lane; 우측 차선(왼쪽 차선)에 서다.

3. Halfway down: 반쯤 내려오다.

cf. Halfway through (~ 도중에)

- I didn’t notice I was on the wrong way until I was halfway through the Main. (Main 로를 반쯤 지나 와서야 길을 잘못 들어섰다는 것을 알아차렸다.)

- The show was terrible, I left halfway through. (그 공연은 형편없었다. 나는 공연 중간에 자리를 떴다.)

- I got into the theater halfway through the show. (그 공연 도중에 극장에 도착했다.)

4. Is there parking on the street?: 거리에 주차 할 수 있습니까?
